FREE in spirit, soul, and body
Jenna Luoto, Exec. & Spiritual Formation Pastor
This Sunday, pastor Jenna will help us see that true freedom in Christ is holistic, not partial. While many believers faithfully pursue spiritual freedom through prayer and obedience, they can remain stuck because God created humans as spirit, soul, and body, each requiring healing in different ways. Scripture shows that while our spirit is made new instantly through salvation, our soul (mind, will, and emotions) and body often need a process of restoration that may include counseling, emotional work, medical care, and healthy rhythms. These approaches are not a lack of faith but an honoring of God’s design. Christ redeemed every part of us, and God desires to sanctify us “through and through,” bringing real freedom by addressing spiritual battles spiritually, emotional wounds intentionally, and physical struggles responsibly—so we can live fully free in the way God intended.
DISCUSSION QUESTIONS
1. Have you ever felt discouraged because you were “doing all the right spiritual things” but still felt stuck? What emotions did that create?
2. The sermon emphasized that “not everything is spiritual.” How does that challenge or affirm what you’ve been taught in the past Why do you think the church has often emphasized spiritual solutions while neglecting the soul or body?
3. Read 1 Thess. 5:23-24. How does understanding God’s design of spirit, soul, and body change the way you view your current struggles?
5. The sermon said that process-based healing is not a lack of faith. How does that statement land with you?
6. What might it look like for you to invite God into a process of healing in our soul (mind, will, emotions) and your body, rather than expecting only an instant spiritual breakthrough? Where specifically do you need to begin to partner with God in this in your life?
7. What next steps are you going to take - share with your group for wise counsel, discernment, and/or accountability.

At K1, we are committed to sharing the good news of Jesus with a world who does yet know him. We believe that the most effective way to do that is through "relational evangelism" - building relationships with lost people in our lives by Beginning with Prayer (Praying for them), Listening (Really listening), Eating (Sharing meals with them), Serving (showing up in meaningful ways, without limits), and Sharing our Story (The ways that God has shown up in our lives).
As we live this out, we want to hear stories of how this B.L.E.S.S. way of living is happening in your life!
