EQUIPPED FOR FREEDOM

Prayer & Worship Service

In this prayer and worship service rooted in Ephesians 6:10–18, we celebrate the truth that followers of Jesus are not fighting for freedom but from it. Building on the series theme of freedom from lies, sin, and bondage, the service reminds us that while Christ has already broken our chains, we are still called to stand firm against the enemy’s schemes by putting on the full armor of God. Through Scripture, prayer, and worship, each piece of the armor—truth, righteousness, peace, faith, salvation, the Word of God, and prayer—is presented as a gracious gift that equips believers to live daily in Christ’s victory. As God’s people receive this armor and engage in spiritual practices, we are empowered to resist deception, guard their hearts and minds, and experience the fullness of life Jesus promises, both for themselves and for the sake of others.

DISCUSSION QUESTIONS

  1. The service emphasizes that we fight from freedom, not for it. What does that distinction mean to you personally, and how does it change the way you face spiritual struggles?
  2. Which piece of the armor of God stood out to you most during the service, and why do you think that is significant for your current season of life?
  3. The belt of truth confronts the lies we believe about God, others, and ourselves. What are some common lies you find hardest to resist, and what truths from Scripture help counter them?
  4. How does understanding righteousness as a gift (not something we earn) bring freedom to your heart and peace to your walk with God?
  5. The shield of faith and helmet of salvation protect our hearts and minds. What kinds of “flaming arrows” (fear, doubt, shame, discouragement) do you most often face, and how can faith and salvation guard you?
  6. The sword of the Spirit is God’s Word. What are some practical ways you can move from passively knowing Scripture to actively using it in spiritual battles?
  7. Paul connects the armor of God with persistent prayer. How has prayer functioned as a weapon or source of strength in your life?
  8. The invitation challenged us to engage in spiritual practices (prayer, Scripture, community, worship). Which practice do you feel God inviting you to lean into more deeply right now, and what might that look like this week?

LIFETRACK STEP FOUR: LIVE IT OUT

ROOM 109 |  12:15PM  |  Lunch & Childcare provided

No matter where you are at on your journey, Lifetrack is the first step that we encourage you to participate in here at Kankakee First Church. This is where you will learn about WHO we are as a church, WHAT we believe, and HOW we are structured to help you along your spiritual journey.  Lifetrack is a four-step process that helps you discover your redemptive purpose and live the life God created for you. You will learn more about who we are as a church and who God has created you to be.
Lifetrack is also our onboarding for our DreamTeam.

At K1, we are committed to sharing the good news of Jesus with a world who does yet know him. We believe that the most effective way to do that is through "relational evangelism" - building relationships with lost people in our lives by Beginning with Prayer (Praying for them), Listening (Really listening), Eating (Sharing meals with them), Serving (showing up in meaningful ways, without limits), and Sharing our Story (The ways that God has shown up in our lives).

As we live this out, we want to hear stories of how this B.L.E.S.S. way of living is happening in your life!
