HONORING THE UN-HONORABLE
DJ Richmond, Pastoral Intern
This Sunday we will continue our "Love Instructions" series by diving into God's 5th Love Instruction. For some of us, this instruction may be hard to do; for others, it may not be hard, but we may find ourselves taking our parents for granted. Join us on Sunday as we get really "real" in exploring how to live this instruction when it may be difficult to do so.
SERMON DISCUSSION QUESTIONS
1. Read Exodus 20:12. How did you interpret 'honor our parents' before this message? How does understanding the Greek word for honor (Kavod - to make heavy) change your understanding?
2. What is the promise within this love instruction? Why do you think this instruction was vital for the Israelites' sustainability?
2. Has it ever been difficult for you to honor your parents, and if so, why?
3. What might it look like to honor the un-honorable parent?
4. Read Ephesians 6:2-4. What is the interplay between kids and parents honoring one another? What are the practical ramifications of living and not living these instructions? Share any personal experiences you might have with this.
Challenge: If you are estranged or have an un-honorable parent, commit to praying for them on a daily basis to come into a personal relationship with Jesus. If you have relationship with your parent, write them note of appreciation.

WAYS TO SERVE
Prepare a MEAL | Sunday or Wednesday Evenings
Breaking bread together is a powerful way to make connection with others. This is why we start many of our ministry gatherings with food - specifcally our YOUTH and our ALPHA ministries. But....we could use some more people who would be willing to help prepare the *simple* meals. If you would be willing to help in this way, please contact Pastor Lindsay (YOUTH) lindsay@k1naz.org, or Pastor Maddi (ALPHA) maddi@k1naz.org.

At K1, we are committed to sharing the good news of Jesus with a world who does yet know him. We believe that the most effective way to do that is through "relational evangelism" - building relationships with lost people in our lives by Beginning with Prayer (Praying for them), Listening (Really listening), Eating (Sharing meals with them), Serving (showing up in meaningful ways, without limits), and Sharing our Story (The ways that God has shown up in our lives).
As we live this out, we want to hear stories of how this B.L.E.S.S. way of living is happening in your life!
