We say every week that we are a Pray First Church. But is prayer actually our instinctive response when life happens, or is it something we believe in without living? In this message from Becoming the Church, Pastor Jenna names what familiarity does to faith: the truths we know best can fade into white noise, and we can believe something doctrinally without being formed by it practically. Acts 4 shows us a church that prayed because they believed God was in control, saw their lives inside God’s story, and wanted His mission to succeed more than their own comfort. The call this Sunday is not to pray more. It is to repent of a Christianity that costs us very little, and to ask the Holy Spirit to awaken what has grown dormant in us.
